Monsoon and hair woes, both go hand in hand! Doesn’t matter what type of hair you have, monsoon spells disaster for our lovely tresses. Curly haired women like me have the worst night mares- more hair fall, limp hair, dry scalp.. uggh! The list goes on.
Curly hair has a mind of its own, it will never listen to you. It’s like a wild horse – you need to tame it. I’ve been experimenting with different products and can safely say that I have managed to understand how my curly hair works!
- My hair responds well to only a few products
- Oiling the hair occasionally is a must
- Over-shampooing/conditioning should be avoided
- Regular hair cuts is a must
- Short hair is easier to manage
- My hair is not like that of Rapunzel’s – so it won’t grow super fast
- My hair need extra TLC (Tender Loving Care) during the monsoons
- My hair needs a dedicated hair care regime
I’ve been trying the Himalaya Herbals’ Anti-Hair Fall Range for over a month now. The range consists of four products – hair oil, shampoo, conditioner and cream. These four products are more or less four step regime that’s easy to follow. The city’s pollution and various dietary deficiencies have caused hair fall and I’m always looking for a solution to combat my receding hair line. Women, tend to be more self critical and everyday I find one extra strand of hair that’s fallen off- I feel like I am going bald – of course subconsciously I know I am not!But hair fall spells disaster in the mind. I have been using Himalaya Herbals for a long time now and can vouch for their great quality products. So here’s how I used the four products of Himalaya’s Anti Hair Fall range.
Step 1: Oiling
There are various dos and don’ts that keep floating around the internet. While some claim oiling does wonders to their hair, some claim it’s best not to oil hair at all! Here’s what I follow – as I have short hair – I oil my hair once a week.I take about four-five coin sized portions of hair oil and dab it on my scalp and hair and keep it overnight. I make sure that I massage my head to ensure that oil gets absorbed into the scalp. The oil works its wonders overnight! The next day I wash it off. The Himalaya Anti-Hair Fall Hair Oil is enriched with the goodness of Bhringaraja and Amalaki– that helps strengthen the root shafts and prevent hair fall. For me, oiling is a regular activity. It helps tame my unruly hair.
Step 2: Shampoo
Never apply shampoo directly to your hair! This has been my strong rule and it has worked wonders for me. When shampoo applied directly to the scalp, chances are that not all parts of the scalp and hair are covered and residue shampoo tends to stick to the scalp. I always take a coin sized portion of the shampoo, wet it with water in my palm, rub it with both hands and gently apply to different parts of the scalp and hair. I wait for two-three minutes before washing it off. I massage my hair during the two-three minute wait to ensure that oil is washed off. If I feel that my hair is oily, I reapply only one coin sized portion of the shampoo and rinse it thoroughly. The Himalaya Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo includes an ayurvedic composition of Bhringaraja and Butea Frondosa that helps reduce hair fall due to breakage, and conditions and improves hair texture. What I like the most about the range is that – it’s safe to use on all types of hair- even artificially coloured or permed hair.
Step 3: Condition
After shampooing, I apply Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Conditioner along the length of hair from base to tip. I avoid touching the root of the hair. The conditioner is formulated with Butea Frondosa, Bhringaraja and chickpea that nourishes hair and helps prevent excess hair fall, leaving hair soft, silky and smooth. Sometimes, I tend to over-shampoo my hair. In such scenarios, the conditioner comes handy as it nourishes the excessively washed and dry hair
Step 4: Protect
After conditioning, I take a small amount of Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall cream and gently run it through my hair stands while it’s still damp. The herb based product is a daily-use product that has Bhringaraja and Amalaki for reducing hair fall and strengthening hair follicles.
Follow all these steps and bid bye-bye to hair fall woes!
My overall rating for the range is 4/5.
